Final Exam Policy
The purpose of the final exam is to assist in validating that students have demonstrated mastery of key course concepts and standards. The final exam, unto itself, is not the sole determiner of student achievement; however, students are required to take and successfully pass a final exam in all OVS courses. In order to maintain the integrity of all OVS grades, instructors may choose to facilitate random oral assessments and/or face-to-face exams. Also, some classes will take the End of Course Exam (EOC) required by the State of Florida.
Will my student receive a report card?
Parents will be able to monitor student progress anytime. Final grade reports are also issued in FOCUS, and grades are posted to the student’s academic history.
Honor Courses
If you like a challenge, we believe you should have the opportunity to try honors courses. To do so, simply alert your teacher of your goal, and then complete the honors assignments in the course. If the assignments prove to be above your skills, you may drop back to regular credit with no penalty. Just be sure to communicate with your teacher.
Student Agreement
Every student must agree with the following statement included in the Student Agreement Form:
"I acknowledge that during the first 14 days of being activated into my OVS course I may drop the course without penalty. I understand that for each online course there are a minimum number of assignments that must be completed each week. Failure to submit the minimum number of assignments on a weekly basis will result in my removal from the course and may result in a failing grade being assigned to my academic transcript. If I drop the course after completing 50% of the class requirements and fail to take the final exam, Osceola Virtual School will issue an “F” for my final grade."
Graduation Requirements
Florida’s state graduation requirements are outlined in the following website:
