Hispanic Heritage Month is a vibrant, month-long celebration of Hispanic history, culture, and contributions. While we honor these communities year-round, from September 15 to October 15, we give special recognition to the profound impact they’ve had on the United States. This includes influential advocacy, rich artistic traditions, beloved foods—both traditional and modern—and so much more.

This month also offers a meaningful opportunity to reflect on the lasting legacy of "hispanos" in shaping our nation. Their presence in America spans centuries, even before Spain colonized areas that are now part of the U.S. From the Revolutionary War to the present day, Hispanic Americans have played a vital role in our country’s development. Key historical events, such as the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo and the Treaty of Paris, which followed the Mexican-American and Spanish-American wars, brought territories like the Southwest and Puerto Rico into the United States—further enriching the nation's cultural and historical landscape.
