OVS Part-time Blended Student Admissions
We thank you for selecting OVS, your district virtual school, and want you to know that you are important to us!
OVS operates on the District academic calendar, however we are pleased to offer accelerated courses beginning in late April and finishing by no later than June 30. Students wishing to take courses in this accelerated term must be registered and approved by their local school counselor by April 15 for the accelerated course completion timeline. Once a teacher is assigned, the students must complete a Welcome Call with the teacher and submit work each week to demonstrate attendance. The digital textbook, lessons and pacing guide are located within the virtual course. *Remember that a segment is a semester course and if you are signing up now, you are completing it in an accelerated version of 8 weeks or less.
Part-time students are Osceola County students that are registered and attending classes at a local, brick and mortar school and are also taking classes with OVS. Virtual classes can be taken as part of the school day or outside the school day, and must be approved by the student’s school counselor. Students find the most success when taking up to 2 virtual courses at a time in addition to their regular school schedule. All courses are to be completed within the regular academic calendar year, unless you are taking the acclerated term. Check with your local school counselor for details and course suggestions.
*Please note that virtual courses are conducted in English and students may not use digital technology to assist in translation during DBA's or Artificial Intelligence to produce their work. Per FLVS, the use of translators is not allowed for DBA's. ELL students may receive extra time on DBAs and may use a heritage language dictionary for DBA’s and their assignments.
